After nearly 30 years in practice treating patients from professional athletes to new born children, Dr. Ken Edgar has used a biomechanically based alignment of the spine and extremities using chiropractic manipulation and myofascial (deep massage) release techniques, including manual and instrument adjusting. Dr. Ken Edgar mostly uses the Artho-stim adjusting instrument for highly specific yet gentle chiropractic adjustments using the Koren Specific Technique (KST).
Dr. Edgar’s Philosophy
“I have 2 pictures in my office of etchings that were taken off the breast plate of a tortoise shell, excavated in China and dated at 3000 years old. These are pictures of doctors of Chinese medicine giving Chiropractic adjustments. Thus we know that spinal adjusting dates back several millennia. We know that these doctors occasionally adjusted the spine for pain, however most were adjusting for imbalances and diseases in the body. There are many acupuncture points along the spine called “associated points.” These points are “associated” with the internal organs. Today, we know that these points correlate to the sympathetic nerves that come out between the vertebrae and innervate the organs. Spinal adjustments correct imbalances in these nerves directly effecting the organs, therefore chiropractic spinal adjusting is, in itself, a complete system of healing.
The founder of chiropractic D. D. Palmer, was a magnetic healer who took many trips to China. In 1895, D. D. Palmer performed his landmark spinal adjustment on Harvey Lillard and restored this deaf patient’s hearing.
In my practice I utilize chiropractic spinal adjustments as well as acupuncture to correct the imbalances in the nerves to the organs in order to allow the patients innate healing ability
to be restored.
I also use deep tissue massage to correct myofascial pain pattern syndromes. The technique of Tui Na is the practice of deep tissue massage according to Chinese medicine.”
